Sechaba Breweries recorded a 12% increase in profit after tax, rising to P304 million from P272 million in 2023. This growth was fueled by improved sales volumes across its subsidiaries.
Sechaba owns a 49.9% stake in Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL) and Coca-Cola Beverages Botswana (CCBB).
KBL saw a 4% increase in sales volumes, reaching 1,677,400 hectoliters while CCBB experienced an impressive 11% growth in sales volumes, totaling 1,323,200 hectoliters.
Revenue for KBL grew by 15%, reaching P2.99 billion, while CCBB’s revenue increased by 12% to P1.3 billion. These gains were attributed to favorable pricing strategies and product mix optimization.
Both subsidiaries contributed significantly to SBHL’s profitability. KBL achieved a profit after tax of P596.8 million, up 9% from the previous year while CCBB posted a remarkable 32% increase in profit after tax, reaching P82 million.
SBHL’s share of profit from associates rose by 12%, amounting to P339 million compared to P303 million in 2023. Earnings per share also increased by 12%, reaching 274.67 thebe.
Despite its strong performance, SBHL faced cash flow pressures due to substantial dividend payouts during the year. Cash and cash equivalents declined from P311 million in 2023 to P189 million in 2024. Total assets also decreased slightly from P1.14 billion to P959 million.
