Google Developers Group (GDG) Gaborone (GDG) recently hosted the annual Devfest Gaborone under the theme "Responsible AI". The event featured knowledge-sharing sessions and presentations aimed at driving ethical AI practices in the region and beyond.
Delivering the keynote address, Tebogo Mogaleemang, CEO of Spectrum Analytics, explored the evolution of communications technology and challenged developers to embrace responsible AI to create meaningful and lasting impact.
The event also featured a Women Techmakers Pre-Event Breakfast Session spotlighting the indispensable contributions of women in the AI and tech landscape. Some presentations from the session included Monkgogi Moshaga "AI’s Transformative Power: Turning Bias into “By Us”",Cindy Melemo's "The Importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Era of Responsible AI", and a panel discussion titled "Women x AI: Breaking Barriers", led by cybersecurity expert Evita Tlhobogang.
Other speakers at the event included Abel Moremi, Ofentse Rice-Phuti, Nhlanhla Lucky Nkosi, Kaene K. Lebakeng, Thabiso Seleke, and Kesego Mokgosi. The event was sponsored by Spectrum Analytics, Africa Code Academy, Innovatium Systems, and Modisar Inc.
