HB Invests P137 Million In Botswana Subsidiary

Diamond technology company HB has announced a P137 million investment into its Botswana subsidiary, HB Botswana. The investment brings the total amount invested in the country by HB to P315 million.

The latest investment tranche will be in the form of HB's proprietary machine and technology systems. These include:

  • 3 last generation, HB Droid Diamond Polishing Robots: High-speed automated, fully independent, polishing robots that dramatically enhance volume and quality, requiring skilled operators and technical support.
  • 20 HB Signifeye Stereo Microscopes: Advanced grading and QC tools that ensure precision, creating new roles for skilled diamond graders.
  • 9 HB EOSFancy Diamond Bruting Machines: Machines designed to maximize yield, reduce waste, and improve efficiency, demanding specialized, educated operators.
  • 4 Lasers: Waterjet lasers that enhance cutting accuracy and efficiency, opening opportunities for technicians trained in high-tech laser operation.

"This advanced technology suite enhances HB’s processing capabilities and lays the groundwork for long-term job creation and talent development in Botswana’s diamond sector, HB said in a statement. 

"The facility will generate meaningful employment opportunities for local communities, empowering Batswana with skills in advanced diamond manufacturing and creating a pipeline of talent that will shape Botswana’s future as a leader in the global diamond industry."
