Choppies Director Resigns Over Corruption Allegations

Choppies non-executive director Andrew Dondo Mogajane has resigned as battles corruption allegations in South Africa. Mogajane is accused of accepting a R1 million bribe while director-general of South Africa's National Treasury. He denies all allegations.

Mogajane had joined Choppies' board of directors in September 2023.

The bribe was for Mogajane to retract a letter that instructed municipalities to stop depositing funds with the now-collapsed VBS Bank.

In addition to resigning from Choppies, Mogajane also resigned from all his professional roles and board positions including as chair of the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) and CEO of the Moti Group.
