Elon Musk says that the pricing of Starlink will follow inflation trends in the country where the service is present. This means users will feel the pinch of exorbitant price increases in countries with high inflation.
Musk was responding to an announcement that Starlink subscription prices had doubled overnight in Nigeria where inflation was 32% at the end of August.
"Starlink prices must roughly match the rate of inflation in any given country," Musk posted on X.
For countries like Botswana, where headline inflation remains relatively low, Starlink users would not have to worry much about significant price increases. According to the Bank of Botswana, inflation was 3.9% at the end of August.
