KBL Breweries Posts P330 Million Profit, Pays P51 Million in Taxes

KBL Breweries recorded a profit after tax of P330 million, a 13% increase from the same period last year. This was revealed in the half year results of Sechaba Breweries Holdings Limited (SBHL), which owns 49.9% of the company.

KBL Breweries, which produces and distributes beverages including Carling Black Label, St. Louis, and Castle Lager, produced and distributed 775.7 hectolitres of beverages, a 6% increase from last year. One hectolitre is equal to 100 litres.

"For the period SBHL is pleased to announce a 15% increase in profit after tax compared to the previous half-year results, driven primarily by an increase in sales revenue," the company told shareholders."Both CCBB and KBL reported positive net revenue growth rates, with CCBB achieving a 12.3% increase and KBL recording an 18% increase."

Coca-Cola Breweries Botswana, another subsidiary of Sechaba breweries in which the company also holds 49.9% shareholding, posted a profit before tax of P30 million, a 55% increase from last year.

Overall, Sechaba Breweries realised a profit before tax of P153 million and basic earning per share of 123.52 thebe. The company also declared a dividend of 11.1 thebe per share.
