Letshego's Ghana Subsidiary Wins Two Innovation Awards

Letshego Ghana Savings and Loans PLC, a subsidiary of Botswana-headquartered microfinancier Letshego Africa, won two awards at the 2024 Ghana National Business Honours Awards. The company won the "Finance Innovation Leadership Award", awarded to CEO  Nii Amankra Tetteh, and "The Digital Instant Loan of the Year" award.

The digital instant loan award was in recognition of Letshego's Qwikloan product which aims to provide quick, accessible, and reliable financial support to Ghanaians, particularly in underserved communities.

Letshego claims that Qwikloan has delivered a tangible social and economic value for over 6 million Ghanaians who may struggle to access traditional financial solutions in the absence of formal collateral.

Additionally, 66% of Qwikloan customers are women and over half of the Qwikloans provided are used for productive purposes including small businesses and paying for school fees.  As a microloan with easy access via a mobile phone, Qwikloan enables members of Ghana’s informal sector to establish a credit record thereby increasing the opportunity to access increased levels of capital if customers manage their loans well.

“These independent accolades recognise our Ghana CEO Nii Amankra Tetteh and the Letshego Ghana team’s tenacity and innovation in ensuring more Ghanaians can access productive capital to support small businesses or send children to school, said Aupa Monyatsi, Letshego Africa’s Group Chief Executive."We are grateful to MTN Ghana for their dynamic partnership.  Qwikloan is one of the many ways we are making our purpose of improving lives a daily reality.”
