Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) is not ruling out more future job cuts as the company continues to execute its growth strategy. In late 2022 and early 2023, the company made as many as 196 job cuts according to media reports.
In its latest financial results, BTC said that the cuts reduced the company's administrative expenses by as much as 18%.
"BTC benefitted from reduced administrative expenses (-18%) mainly attributed to the prior year's restructuring process. We will continue to optimise our structure to keep the costs in line with our growth trajectory," the company said.
Although the company made a profit of P158 million profit per its latest results, it still continues to have stagnant revenue growth which has been hovering in the single digits for years.
To drive growth, BTC is looking at introducing more tech products to become a leader in digital services in Botswana as well as considering international expansion.
