Naledi Magowe, co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of agritech startup Brastorne has been shortlisted in the Top 60 for the 2024 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize competition. The competition recognises innovators in Africa's agriculture ecosystem.
Brastorne's flagship product mAgri is a USSD tool allowing farmers who use feature phones to create mobile stores and search for and compare prices on hundreds of products and services. It currently has a presence in Botswana, DRC, Cameroon and Guinea.
The Top 60 agripreneurs are in the running to win $160,000 in prizes, providing significant financial support to help scale their businesses. Over the coming weeks, evaluators will determine the semi-finalists who will then be invited for interviews. From there, the Top 10 finalists will be revealed.
Finalists will be awarded a trip to Kigali, Rwanda, to pitch their ventures at the GoGettaz Finals taking place at the Africa Food Systems Forum Summit. At the continent’s biggest agribusiness gathering, they will gain invaluable exposure, network with industry leaders, and participate in the AFSF Agribusiness Dealroom. This exclusive platform offers a unique opportunity to secure investments and forge strategic partnerships that can take their agribusinesses to new heights.
Another Motswana shortlisted is Oneile Lebonetse-Wale of "Herdgirl".
