According to the Bank of Botswana's 2023 annual report, on average, employed foreigners in Botswana earned an average salary of P15,893.00 while employed locals' average salary is P7,396.00.
This means on average, foreigners earn 53% more than Batswana. Collectively, both foreigners and locals earn an average salary of P7,692.00.
Botswana continues to face an unemployment problem, with the general population and youth unemployment at 25.9% and 34.4% respectively, more than last year's figures of 25.5% and 33.5%.
Government, wholesale trade and agriculture are the top employers in the country.
