Botswana Licenses Starlink

Botswana has approved Starlink’s application to operate in Botswana, said President Masisi.

The announcement concludes a lengthy licensing process which has seen the satellite internet service provider even banned in the country at some point.

According to President Masisi, the decision to license Starlink came after meeting the Starlink delegation in Dallas, Texas, a few weeks ago.

“BOCRA fast-tracked the application and it was done in two weeks. Starlink is now registered in Botswana,” President Masisi said.

It is unclear when Batswana will be able to start purchasing Starlink devices or which company will be responsible for the distribution of the service in the country.

Through its constellation of low-orbiting satellites, Starlink can offer high-speed internet connectivity in most remote parts.
