Thapelo Tsheole has been appointed as the CEO of the Rwanda Capital Market Authority (CMA), the regulatory body of the capital markets industry. Tsheole resigned from the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) last month and was replaced in an acting capacity by Kopano Bolokwe.
He is expected to officially join CMA in a month after completing his 3-months notice period with the BSE and will take over from Eric Bundugu who has been acting at the helm of CMA since 2018 since the exit of Robert Mathu in 2017.
Some of Tsheole's achievements include leading BSE into admission as a full member of the World Federation of Exchanges, a record-breaking day of trading in the BSE after Access Bank acquired BancABC, as well as the introduction of new technology systems to the exchange.
In January BW TechZone spoke to Tsheole about the impact of technology in the exchange. You can read the full interview here.
