Orange Botswana CEO Nene Maiga was recognised as the "Female Innovator of the Year" at the Africa Tech Festival Awards in Cape Town, South Africa. The award recognises female leaders pushing and implementing innovate solutions in their respective organisations.
Maiga joined Orange in September 2021 and has overseen some of the company's most ambitious initiatives including the launch of its commercial 5G network, digital centres, and N'stakolle micro-loans.
"I would like to add a huge thank you to my team, stakeholders and the Orange Africa teams for their support," Maiga told BW TechZone. "We look forward to continuing our mission of fostering inclusive and affordable coverage and connectivity all over the country."
According to data by BOCRA, Orange is currently the second-biggest mobile network operator in the country and Orange Money is currently the market leader in mobile money, with a market share of over 50%.
