The app, duly called "Dikoloto", was developed by Lesley Johnson, a young Motswana who plans on using his passion for software development to help improve the livelihood of Batswana while also creating solutions that are unique to the world and can very much in every way compete on the world stage.
According to Johnson, he initially developed the app to help him track his small money lending to family and friends and since it was useful to him, he figured he should make it public so that someone in the community may benefit from it. The app allows a user to save and track their loan details and payments as well as be reminded about due payments.
It features a crafty UI which is available and dark and light modes and also features Setswana as a language option which is meant to bring a more user-friendly experience to native-speaking Batswana. it also allows you to enable push notifications on due loans.
The developer also mentioned that he is mostly interested in seeing the use of Setswana in the Dikoloto App help improve and shape the use of Setswana in tech. He also wants to introduce a "Open Source Botswana" trend where we Batswana developers together with the Botswana community can congregate to help grow the use of Setswana in tech.
The app is available for Android devices and you can download it here!
