Botswana Life Launches Facebook Chatbot For Mosako Funeral Plan

Botswana Life Insurance Limited has launched a Facebook chatbot to facilitate the usage of the Mosako Funeral Plan which they are hoping will lead to a more accessible and efficient service process.

“We understand our customers’ need for a stable support system through this uncertain socio-economic period, as well as their desire for greater accessibility and convenience, and seamless and safe service delivery. Our new Facebook-based chatbot was designed to adhere to all these needs,” said Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited (BIHL) CEO Catherine Letedi.

For his part, Sanlam Pan Africa's Executive: Innovation & Growth, mentioned that "Over the next few years, we expect an increasing number of our targeted customers to utilize and leverage the Facebook solution. This comes at a time when building and implementing omni-digital sales channels align very well with the future-fit requirements of the fourth industrial revolution,” says Michael.

Facebook is estimated to have about 1.3 million subscribers in Botswana and these statistics, according to Michael, indicate the significance of social media platforms and hence the decision to build the chatbot.

Primarily designed for individuals who are considered unbanked, the Mosako Funeral Plan allows the policyholder to cover up to 27 family members in a single policy.
