As part of efforts to grow their digital platform Unayo, Stanbic today welcomed Trans Cash & Carry as a super merchant on the platform.
In a statement, Stanbic Bank Botswana's Head of Client Solutions, Omphemetse Dube, mentioned that "The partnership creates an opportunity for Unayo users to make use of Cash-In and Cash-Out services at kiosks located at TRANS Cash & Carry stores. Cash-In transactions allow registered Unayo users to deposit funds into their accounts. The Cash-Out service allows registered Unayo users to withdraw funds from their accounts. Non-registered voucher recipients can also redeem the Unayo vouchers at the Unayo kiosk."
The partnership with TRANS Cash & Carry will be rolled out in phases, the first phase covering 4 Trans Africa stores in Greater Gaborone being:
- Trans Hyper Mogoditshane
- Trans Hyper Tlokweng
- Jumbo Industrial
- Trans Industrial
The transactions will be facilitated by TRANS Cash & Carry cashiers located at branded kiosks within the TRANS Cash & Carry stores. In due course, the scope of services will be expanded to include payment for goods as well as the purchase of Value Added Services such as airtime and prepaid electricity.

Makgabana Tsametsi mentioned that "As TRANS Cash and Carry we are excited for our customers since this product will breach a gap between our unbanked and banked customers since we serve customers from all walks of life. Unayo came at the right time especially now since our store is growing and we are looking into ways we can our customer’s individual needs and serve them accordingly."
Unayo is available to Citizens as well as Foreign nationals and is accessible through self-registration using USSD (*200#) or by downloading the Unayo Mobile App.
